Why do I
even need a business or organization website?
These days, a website can serve as anything from an online business
card, to a business validation tool, or a way to increase sales.
Either way you use a website, it is a first impression. People
make value judgments about your business or organization, based on
whether you have a website and how professional your website looks. [Learn

Why should I use
Golden Web Design Services?
Golden Webs brings more than 50 years of combined website, design, and
optimization experience. We have developed practices that allow us
to cost effectively develop and implement professional and effective
websites for small businesses and organizations. Rather than meet
with you, go away, and return with a website, we interact with you every
step of the way to ensure that the direction we are going will be the
best for your company or organization.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is the "pretty" name people use to find you on the
internet. Domain registrars, companies that hold domain names, are
where you go to get your domain name. We like GoDaddy, but there
are many others. Network Solutions is one of the older companies
around for domain names. You actually lease the name, versus
buying it. If your domain name expires, you can lose it or it can
be pirated from you and held for ransom. This is not a good thing
- we can share horror stories about these things, as told by clients.
How much does a website cost?
The cost to develop most small business websites can range from a few
hundred dollars to around fifteen hundred dollars, depending on your
specific needs. Our
website design plans are structured to be flexible so you get
exactly the type of website you need.
What kind of features can there be on a website?
There are many, many effective products and tools you can have on (or
interactive with) a website, including, web contact or order forms,
photo albums and portfolios, Flash animation, drop down menus, shopping
carts, pay-per-click campaigns, and logo designs. If you have an
idea for something you would like on your website, contact us and we can
discuss!
What other costs are there?
In addition to website design and optimization costs, there are website
hosting costs, whether we host the site or another company does.
Website hosting is typically an annual, renewable expense. There
is also a cost for your domain name and this can be renewed annually or
you can pay up to 10 years in advance to secure your domain name.
What if I don't
know what to say on my website?
If you don't know what to say on your website, no worries. We can
work with you to develop content needed for your website. Part of
what we do is learn all about your company or organization and with that
knowledge, compile a content draft that you can review.
Can you maintain my website for me after it is up?
Yes, we certainly can. We have very affordable
website maintenance plans, a very fair
time and materials rate, and we bill in quarter hour increments.
What
if I want to change some things on my website myself?
We have developed a very simple and cost-effective tool that enables you
to change "spots" of text on your website from any computer, any time,
and anywhere in the world. It's easier than sending an e-mail
message! We have many clients doing this today. This
encourages you to keep your website current, which is so important, not
only for your website visitors, but for search engines as well!
What
kind of website support do you offer?
We can support you over the phone, onsite if local, or over the Internet
using special technologies.
Can you design Flash websites?
Yes, we design Flash websites. However, it is best to use Flash
for page headers or for special information communications versus
developing an entire website using Flash. Search engines can not
see the text on a Flash site, so if you want to be found on the
Internet, you are best served with a blend of the two.
What is Pay-Per-Click?
Pay-per-click is where you go to a search engine, such as Google, and
you will see listings / ads either on the right side or at the top of
your search results. These ads are presented, based on your search
keywords. When you click on an ad, some business or organizations
pays a small fee. A click can cost anywhere from pennies to
dollars, depending on how competitive the items is and how expensive the
product of service is.
How
will people find my website?
To be found on the internet (we like to call it being web-visible)
websites need to be tweaked or optimized so that search engines can find
your business or organization. This process is also known as
Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
What is
Search Engine Optimization?
Search Engine Optimization or SEO involves constructing your website
such that, when a web searcher enters some "keywords" into a search box,
your website will be in their "short list." There are a ton of
SEO
things that we do to websites. Some techniques are "off site" in
that, they are not changes we make to the website itself, but rather
things you or we do involving other websites and businesses.
Can you improve my website
rankings?
Yes, we definitely can. There are many variables in this process,
ranging from how competitive your particular "keywords" are to your
industry. Some words will be tough to do well with. We like
to go for the "low hanging fruit," a unique approach that can lead
visitors to your website.
How do I get
started?
Contact us and we will set up a time to rough out your website vision
and goals. It does not matter that you are not a local business or
organization, we can effectively derive your needs, whether over the
phone, an online web browser session, or in person. One thing you
can do before we meet is gather as much information / content about your
company that you can, including logos, photos, and other images.
